This policy explains what personal information the site collects, why, and what residents of US states with privacy statutes — California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas and others as their laws take effect — can require of us. Readers elsewhere, including in the EEA and the UK, have equivalent rights and are covered by the same practices.

- Internet or network activity — pages viewed, time on page, referring URL, browser and device characteristics, cookie identifiers. Collected: yes.
- Commercial information — whether a referral link was followed, reported back to us as a count. Collected: in aggregate only.
- Approximate location — city or region inferred from IP address. Collected: yes. Precise geolocation: no.
- Financial information, government identifiers, account credentials, biometric data, health data, protected classifications, education records, employment information, sensory data — none of these. There is no account and no payment on this site, so there is nothing of the kind to collect.
- Sensitive personal information as defined by the CPRA — none collected, and therefore no use of it to limit.
- Inferences used to build a profile about an individual — none drawn.
Sources and Purposes
Information comes from you directly, from your device as you browse, and from the affiliate networks that report referral totals to us. We use it to respond to enquiries, to operate and secure the site, to measure readership in aggregate and plan editorial work, to verify commission owed to us, and to comply with law. We retain each category only as long as its purpose requires: logs for weeks, correspondence until a matter is closed, analytics in aggregated form thereafter.
Disclosure, Sale and Sharing
We disclose personal information to service providers for business purposes — hosting, content delivery, email, analytics, affiliate tracking — under contracts that restrict them to those purposes. We do not sell personal information for monetary or other valuable consideration, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under the CPRA. We have not sold or shared the personal information of any consumer, including anyone under 16, in the preceding twelve months. Your Rights and How to Use Them

- Delete — subject to the exceptions the statutes allow, such as security, legal compliance and the defence of claims.
- Correct — inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
- Opt out — of sale, of sharing for targeted advertising, and of profiling in furtherance of decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. None of these occur here, so an opt-out request is confirmed rather than processed.
- Portability — a copy in a portable, readily usable form where technically feasible.
- Non-discrimination — the site does not have a paid tier or a members’ version, so there is no worse service to be given.
- Appeal — where your state provides it, you may appeal a refusal, and the appeal is reviewed by someone who did not decide the original request.

We will verify a request against the information we actually hold; for a visitor who has never contacted us, that information is usually a cookie identifier and an IP address, and we will explain when we cannot connect a request to a person rather than demand additional identity documents. Responses are provided within 45 days, extendable once where the statute allows.
